Firefall Trailer/Gameplay

Trailer!

Gameplay Trailer!

My brother just mentioned Firefall to me so I signed up for the game over on the site. He said it looks like Global Agenda with the whole open world feel to it, but it's seeming more PvE as opposed to the PvP focus in Global Agenda. Personally I never got around to Global Agenda but downloaded it and may eventually. Firefall definitely looks interesting though, maybe like a third person Borderlands. And the monsters in the first video made me think of like Zerg in StarCraft, anyone else get that vibe? Well anyway, the game is supposedly coming out in 2011, so we'll see what happens. Don't believe there's a specific date yet though, I'll keep you guys updated if I hear something.

Dragon Age II removed from Steam by EA

You may have heard recently about EA removing Crysis 2 from Steam and that future games by EA such as Battlefield 3 won't be appearing on Steam. Well along with that all currently going on, Dragon Age II has been removed from Steam as well. Hopefully they'll leave what's left on Steam as it is, but as we can see, that wasn't the case for Dragon Age II. David Demartini, the senior vice president of global e-commerce for EA discussed with IGN their reasons for withdrawing Dragon Age II from steam in the below quote:

"Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to sell downloadable content. No other download service has adopted this practice. Consequently some of our games have been removed by Steam. We hope to work out an agreement to keep our games on Steam."

As you can see the reasons are very similar to what EA stated for removing Crysis 2.

Whether it be with a sword, magic, or a bow. Get to also see some of the nice graphics along with a brief bit of a village. And of course a couple dragons make an appearance.

Prototype 2 - Homecoming Trailer

Minecraft 1.8 Teaser Images

Jeb and Notch decided to release two images yesterday about the upcoming 1.8 Adventure patch. Check out the two above and see if you notice anything new. In the first image you may be a bit confused and think nothing is different, but Notch has previously noted that he was working on a level generator for heights up to 512 units tall. Currently the default height is only 128. This means that there can be mountains of enormous heights and caves that go deeper and deeper into the ground. Which means you may be making spiral stairs for a lot longer than you'd think before you see diamonds and other rare minerals. Also since there will be a much bigger area between you and the top of the map, sky dimensions may be an idea in the 1.8 patch.

Now lets take a look at the second image, although we're not done with the first. In the second image you'll notice something new being cooked, chicken! Instead of killing chickens for feathers or waiting for them to lay eggs, you can now also kill them for chicken basically. Lets hope there are other ways as well to get food easily, because guess what, you're sure going to need it. They're adding a food bar which you'll see on the right. Now personally I'm hoping this is an option, similar to the hardcore mode system in Fallout: New Vegas. It'd definitely make things tougher and interesting You'd have to stock up more on food for when you plan on going exploring in caves and such. Along with whatever else is to come too.

Also, I'm sure you noticed the long greenish bar below the health and food bars. It's not confirmed what it could be, but it could be a variety of things. Perhaps a tiredness bar and you'd have to use a bed more often, but that would then change the idea of only being able to at night probably. So I don't suppose it's likely. It could be some sort of stamina or strength. Hopefully we'll see another teaser or hint that may make it more easily to understand.

If you go to PAX in August, you'll be able to test out the Adventure 1.8 Patch. Otherwise, soon after we'll be sure to see a ton of videos and images or stories popping up about it. So that's something to look forward to!

Saints Row The Third Trailer Explained

Saints Row The Third has been grabbing a good bunch of attention and I'm sure if you're here, you've probably seen The Power trailer. Are you sure you have? Because after watching this video I noticed I missed a load of things. Whether it be a simple brochure saying the Saints partnered with Ultor or all the new merchandise the Saints now have. Maybe you didn't even realize that in the beginning the guy with the Winter sisters gives his cigarette to one of them and when he takes it back he puts the front in his mouth. Had to watch that twice. The trailer is explained thoroughly by Steve Jaros; Lead Writer. He picks at details you wouldn't of noticed in a casual run through or a few easter eggs here and there. It's definitely worth a shot to check out, considering you'll understand the game more without it being out yet. You get to feel special and explain things to your friends that they don't even know yet basically.

Starcraft Universe MMORPG!

As we all know Blizzard has it's very own famous World of Warcraft, well hows a World of Starcraft sound? Well looks like they're making it happen with Starcraft Universe, a mod for Starcraft 2. So far I must say it's looking pretty cool, but I mean I've only see the above gameplay trailer and a few forum posts. Check out the channel of the person who made the above video and you'll see some more videos of the team at work and whatever else is to come. It looks like they're allowing people to apply for positions on the their team along with Game Testers, there's no guarantee you'll get in, but I noticed they have a section where you can drop your computer specs and a couple other small things. Anyway, considering Blizzard's huge success with WoW, I'm sure this'll be a ton of fun. Although I'm sure there will be certain parts that we will all notice is just a clone of WoW, which you can even notice a couple things from watching the video. But I mean, it's an mmo, so should expect a few things to be the same. Curious how it'll play out though, sure it'll be fun, I'll keep you guys updated if I come across anything big. I don't believe there are any dates planned yet. Enjoy the video for now and take in the details on the forum.

Overwolf and MMORPG Partnership

Overwolf and MMORPG have partnered up to help bring a more social experience into gaming. Overwolf is a new program that will allow you to access Facebook, Skype, and other widgets that you desire, while playing your favorite game. Or maybe you just saw something hilarious or about to go into an epic battle and you want to show it to a friend, well with Overwolf, you can record your gameplay. I haven't tested it yet, but comments have made it seem nice so far. Overwolf contains it's own web browser as well. This is seeming to be the new Xfire from what it has so far. Best of all, it's free and has no ads! Check out the below for more detail. Download it here!

- Seamless: There’s no need for hotkeys, alt-tabbing, or any of that.  Just hover over the tiny icon on the side of your screen and have instant access to all of Overwolf’s widgets and features.  When you want it to go back into hiding, just pull the mouse away and it slides back into its dark corner of its den.

- Tons of Features: Not everyone’s up and up on the Social Network scene these days, but to say that Overwolf comes packaged with a ton of widgets for your multi-purpose use would be an understatement.  You can link up and access Facebook and Twitter from inside the game.  You can record video, snap screens and post them across all the major social sites.  It even has Skype and MSN built in, as well as a devoted in-game internet browser.

- MMORPG.com Built In: You can browse everywhere on the web while you’re gaming… but really, why bother when you can click the MMORPG.com widget and be taken right here for all of your news and forum
needs?

- Did I mention video? The Overwolf client allows you to record and share video right from whatever game you’re playing.  Heck you could even go to Gamertube and upload your content for all of us at MMORPG.com to see while you’re playing.

- It’s free! No ads, no surcharges, no subscription fees.  It’s just pure awesome for the price of nothing.

- More to come! That’s not where the party stops either.  New widgets will be added all the time, and the folks at Overwolf are always open to ideas, so be sure to try out the client and offer your feedback right here if you’d like.

Dungeons of Dredmor

Take a look at the above video for the game Dungeons of Dredmor played by Total Halibut. It's a relatively fun rogue-like currently 10% off over at Steam anyway. Bought it today as my brother bought it a day or two ago and has enjoyed it since. Especially constantly telling others and I about the little jokes in each description you come across. "The dirt stares at you dirtly." or the fact that Bituminous coal can also be used to make yogurt. The little things here and there in the descriptions make the game funny for sure. You can even wear a traffic cone for a helmet. Well anyway, the game is turn based, so if you need a potion but can't find it throughout your entire inventory or need to think of a plan, not moving will basically pause it. I learned this after running 20 or so blocks with monsters chasing me when I started out playing the game. Something my brother lacked to tell me =P Good things to also know as said above, it's a rogue-like and a dungeon crawler RPG. I've managed to spend an hour at least playing now, while my brother has spent over 10. And another friend has spent a good few as well. As I just bought this I'll still be having fun screwing around, keeping the permadeath option on to make things interesting. Although I crashed twice trying to go back up stairs which disappointed me. They're trying to fix the issue which is nice to know. I ended up going with a mainly rogue build with a bit of a warrior mixed in there. Make sure to get mushroom farming as it's a very useful skill for buffs and money when you find Brax. Definitely found the game to be fun and will continue to play it for the next week at least. A good game to kill some time on a break. Enjoy the video above.

Red Remover 2 Lvls 1-19 Walkthrough

Just a small walk through I did when screwing around with Red Remover 2. Did 1 through 19, and spent a couple minutes failing on level 20. Figured it out later though, annoying, kind of got the technique down though. Well enjoy. Check out the rest of the channel for more flash stuff if you wish.

Prototype 2 The Power of Tendrils Trailer

Looking forward to Prototype 2? Well hit up the above Power of Tendrils trailer which brings out the damage you can make happen with your deadly tendrils. The trailer explains that you'll be able to use the tendrils to grip random props around the environment and fling them into enemies. You'll be able to rip people apart, you can string up enemies from wall to wall, and more. After watching the above trailer you'll realize you can just grab anything and use it as a weapon with your tendrils. If you enjoyed the first, I'm sure you'll love the second when it's here.

Team Fortress 2 Trollin

A friend of mine The Repairman-Man-Man-Man was playing some Team Fortress 2 in the above video and thought it would be a good idea to record some trollin.

Modern Warfare 3 Domain Fail?

Stronghold 3 - Official Trailer

Check out the above trailer for Stronghold 3 coming this Fall 2011! I've always been a Stronghold fan personally. The first and Crusader were my favorites. I'd of played the first more if it was a bit easier in order to get food as opposed to always hunting or buying food. In Crusader farming was usually enough to get you a steady supply going. Hunting only lasted for so long in the first. I didn't play the second Stronghold, but looking through some screenies now, looks interesting. Tried Stronghold Legends forever ago and it wasn't quite my batch of tea. But I mean even to this day I still play Crusader every now and then a random skirmish. Usually I play on the may I think called Tilos? I think that's what it was, fun map. Might of been a couple of weeks ago the last time I played. I would start at the bottom of the island and be the resources guy. Even though the armored units who were obviously stronger were good, I never really made them. I had an archery shop or two though just for selling and helping out allies. But I really focused on getting a ton of iron, sold it at the market, bought whatever food I needed and spent a load of gold randomly on the camp which popped out units. Usually hired the hell out of horse archers for defense. And if I got the chance would send armies of Assassins at farms or buildings and they raped Kings if they could get to them. Anyway, definitely a fun game, myself I'm going to have to look into this, looks exciting.

Fallout: New Vegas - Old World Blues Official Trailer

Check out the above Fallout: New Vegas - Old World Blues DLC. Personally, I loved Fallout 3 and must of spent like 200 hours into it as I do with Bethesda's Elderscrolls games. I ended up picking up New Vegas for I think $30 for the Xbox 360 and I felt the campaign was pretty quick, so it's nice they keep pumping out DLC like they always have. I recall them adding five different DLC's for Fallout 3, so I'd expect a good bunch to come for New Vegas as well. But my point is, with Fallout 3, as I went along the main campaign I always felt there was something else to do, grabbing missions as I went. Every now and then I'd realize I had like a thousand different missions and could spend hours jumping from mission to mission doing the most random things. Fallout: New Vegas's campaign may of felt quick as that was all I did most of the time, but iunno. Definitely was a very fun game, but I ended up going into a certain area in one of the casinos, then the place turned entirely black if I looked away from the floor. This basically got me to stop wanting to play for a while and I haven't since. I'll probably go back to it again soon when I get my Xbox 360 fixed as it was a fun game, but that definitely put me back and got me disappointed. Otherwise, the game has been fun and an upgrade from Fallout 3. It's nice to see that Bethesda is continuously adding DLC to their games to make it even more interesting.

Sid Meier's Civilization World For Facebook Mini Review

You can play Sid Meier's Civilization Open Beta here. Personally I've been fine with connecting, although I've noticed many people still do have issues. I'd only say there's lag spikes here and there causing the game to be a bit annoying. The game is definitely different from most applications on Facebook which require you to invite all your friends repeatedly in order to succeed in the game or well get anywhere. In this game you're able to play with friends or without regardless. The game is definitely fun if you know how to play with certain strategies here and there. The community isn't always talking, but here and there you'll notice people do work together or help each other in the few ways possible. I'm feeling as if this game is going to become something I can only have short sittings of and then come back hours later to check on my resources. While yes it is nice to grab a few bonus bits of resources from the bubbles, how much time can you really spend doing that. The mini-games are entertaining, but you run out of moves quick for the first two if you stay on the game for a long period. The Caravan game is nice as it is every 10 minutes or so and gives you something to do. Also, of course a micro currency would be needed as it is an App and companies need a way of making money which I understand. Although, if you whip out some money and use CivBucks, I'm sure you'll also conveniently be sitting in the number 1 rank. The way civilizations work as a whole are pretty cool definitely. But in every game, there's going to the strongest and then all the other weaker ones. There are some bugs and glitches here and there, but it is a beta after all.

Surviving Fallout Apocalypse.. Seriously

Header

If you're a fan of the Fallout series, then you'll know the dangers you'll face in the wastelands and so on. Whether it be some radiation, a bandit, the Enclave, or maybe even a behemoth, then you know it can't be easy. I mean there are some people around that'll help you out, but thinking about it now, there's also a load of people who want your head. Plus then you have to think, are you going to get known in the Fallout world for your good deeds or your criminal acts. I suppose both paths could have it's benefits. Definitely would be interesting attempting to live in this world. That doesn't mean, BAM, bring on the nuclear missiles. Just means it would be interesting to see the reality of it and yes trust me I understand it's a game as well. Well lets get down to the main point of this article, do you think you could survive the Fallout Apocalypse. Well apparently  a radiation oncology expert and a sociology expert seem to believe it is possible. Might not be easy, but when there's a will, there's a way. Read up on this article and see their thoughts.

"The Fallout series is a gritty and darkly humorous set of tales about a world gone wrong. We've taken several treks through the massive wastelands, meeting interesting characters and forging our own legends. But would the world even be livable after such a widespread attack, and would humanity really be able to work together and trust each other after such devastation? To find out, we talked to two experts in their fields: Dr. Curtis Miyamoto, chairperson of the radiation oncology department at Temple University School of Medicine; and Dr. Karen Cerulo, chair of the sociology department at Rutgers University." - 1UP.com
