Yogscast Response to Notch!

Despite the team Yogscast still being sick, they made a statement just moments ago. You can see the quick video above that gives a quick response to the several tweets by Notch. They briefly state that Notch had to of been tired from the after party with Deadmau5, so they're going to let him off for that. So in the video they're kind of just shrugging it off and figure he probably wasn't really thinking 100% at the time.

As the video only lasted a mere 52 seconds, they made a full statement on their forum. But since it's currently not accessible, you can see it on Reddit. In the statement they mainly focus on the fact that Minecon wasn't amazingly organized which may have caused some of the complications between Notch and Yogscast.

"We loved spending time with fans and were overwhelmed by how many people were there to support us and give us gifts. Simon has enough Jaffas to last him until the middle of 2012. The problem was that Minecon is a new show and organisation was pretty bad, and when we came to the scheduled signing sessions, nothing had been set up for us and we had to scrabble around to fetch tables, ropes and pens ourselves." - Yogscast

Since Minecon is a new event and this is the first year it's occurring, it's definitely understandable what they're getting at. Also, if you've watched any of Yogscast's videos, you will understand they do swear often. Considering Notch invited Yogscast, maybe he should of kept that in mind as well. Maybe he did realize it and just didn't want them to around kids, who knows. Anyway, Yogscast made us aware that there was a rehearsal for the whole show and nobody took offense by the way it played out. Therefore, they shouldn't of been shunned as much as they were by Notch, because as they stated, it was approved: "...we apologise for this, but had rehearsed the whole show in front of the organisers and half of Mojang and they had approved it." Plus, they even apologized

Yogscast made it known which tweet hit them the worst: "Out of all the tweets that Notch sent out, most hurtful was the accusation that we told a kid to “fuck off” and crossed out another signature – which is something we would never ever do."

While Notch says they demanded a lot, they state they weren't paid and never demanded to be paid. They did ask for support, but not as much as Notch exaggerates. Yogscast actually emphasizes that they had to spend a lot to even come to Minecon. Considering flight, rooms, food, and equipment for themselves and the 10 other people from their team they brought. Mojang provided them with two hotel rooms and a small boardroom to rest in. So Mojang did indeed provide some support. Also, as a kind gesture, Yogscast gave out "100 special t-shirts for free."

There you have it, Yogscast's statement to tweets by Notch and rumors going around the internet about Minecon! Overall, Yogscast believes most of the tweets to be wrong or at least blown up to huge proportions without explanation. Who knows, maybe Notch just was tired, I mean it was after all the planning of Minecon and the intense party with Deadmau5. So where do you stand?

  1. I stand to think that Notch shouldn't be a part of "Mensa". As some article claimed. The amount of articles using Notch's tweet as source material to spread rumours and stain the public relations of Yogscast is actually quite bad journalism.

Wise words: Do research, don't make statements on twitter just because some hollywood celebrities do if you want to be professional.

All in all Notch never provided any hard proof and only blasted off on Twitter and then each side of fanatic followers started raging over it.

It's pathetic. You don't need an IQ over 140 to know that.

  2. @Anonymous By tweeting to his almost 500k followers, rumors are bound to start. And being the fact it was the day after Minecon, there wasn't anything to go work off of considering all there was, were the tweets Notch created. My posts are here to inform my readers of what both sides have stated.
