Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai
The new expansion for Total War: Shogun 2, Fall of the Samurai was announced earlier. Sega announced it earlier on their Total War Blog. It's going to be significantly larger than anything else they've created for Shogun 2 apparently. It's releasing some time in March 2012.
"Fall of the Samurai explores the conflict between the Imperial throne and the last Shogunate in 19th century Japan, 400 years after the events of the original game – a dramatic clash of traditional Samurai culture with the explosive power of modern weaponry.
New on the scene will be America, Britain and France, whose arrival incites a ferocious civil war to decide the fate of the nation. You’ll be able to play one of six new playable clans, supporting either the Imperial throne or the last Shogunate." - Total War Blog

Sega is going to be supporting features such as, railway networks, ironclad warships, and improved siege battle mechanics. There also trying to create interactions between land and sea units through a variety of ways. Players are even able to call campaign map bombardments, ranging from bombarding an strong army or growing city! Conquer the sea and you may have just won the war.
There are also going to be three new agent types: the Foreign Veteran, the Ishin Shishi, and the Shinsengumi. Multiplayer as well is getting major updates. A new Conquest map, based on the 19th century setting, tagged with a special Fall of the Samurai avatar. Which includes, over 40 new retainers, over 30 new armor pieces and a 19th century avatar skill tree.
