The Back to Karkand expansion is bringing new weapons, new vehicles, and best of all, old maps! Wait a second, yep, maps you may recognize from Battlefield 2 are incoming to BF3.
- The new weapons consist of: MP5, PP-19, L85A2, FAMAS, Type 88, L96A1, Jackhammer, MG36, Type95, and the Type97
- Three new vehicles shown in the trailer: F35B Fighter Jet, BTR-90 APC, DPV Buggy
- Four new, but old maps: Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula
- Conquest Assault mode - Originally named Conquest in Battlefield 2. One team starts out with a couple control points/spawn points and has to defend them from the opposing team who has to invade and capture each point.
The Back to Karkand expansion to Battlefield 3 is expected to release this December, some time around Christmas. The expansion is priced at $15 or 1200 MS points for Xbox 360 players. Fortunately for players who bought the Limited Edition copy of BF3, you get the expansion free. PlayStation 3 players will be able to play Back to Karkand a week earlier than other consoles.
