Torchlight 2 Delayed into next year
Torchlight 2 fortunately was delayed into 2012. Wait a second, fortunately? Yes I did say that. Earlier today Travis Baldree; the President of Runic Games, announced earlier in their site news that Torchlight 2 will be delayed for a few reasons.
While they have previously stated it would release in 2011, they believe it'd be better to polish the game. Everyone knows nobody likes a delay, it's more time until you can play the game you've been looking forward to. Plus, the developers then told you a false release date or area. But it also means it's more time for them to develop the game, fix bugs and glitches, and overall try to make your gaming experience more enjoyable. Travis Baldree states, "The first Torchlight was released in record time, but it had plenty of issues that a little more development could have resolved... Right now our job is to ensure that the quality level is consistent all the way to the end." He said that it won't be considerably longer until release, but it will indeed be a short time.
Then you'll love what Travis Baldree said for laughs: "Besides, you're all playing Skyrim right now anyway, aren't you? Or Battlefield 3? Or Uncharted 3? Or Saints Row 3? Or Arkham City? Or Skyward Sword? Or Minecraft? Or Modern Warfare 3? Or Dark Souls? Or Assassin's Creed Revelations?" So I mean yeah, it's an understandable statement to some extent. It's November, before the holidays, and all these major games just came out. So obviously it's going to steal some of Torchlight 2's thunder. But while you may be saying it's smart to spring ahead, don't forget about Diablo 3. Therefore Runic Games will have to deal with perhaps releasing near Diablo 3. As Torchlight 2 has a major influence from Diablo 3 that any gamer will realize, this might steal their thunder more than anything. Some players may prefer Torchlight over Diablo, who knows. But if they release Torchlight 2 near Diablo 3, there's definitely going to be some competing. Even if Diablo is a bigger game overall.
Anyway, on the bright side, look at this message from Baldree, "We feel pretty safe in saying that if you enjoyed Torchlight at all, this sequel is superior in every respect." Now you might understand why I said fortunately!
