PayDay: The Heist - Trailer

PayDay: The Heist runs like Left 4 Dead when it comes down to game mechanics as far as I can see. As opposed to setting off a car alarm and having a load of zombies coming, you can look forward to setting off a bank alarm and a ton of cops and SWAT coming. PayDay is being made by a private company you probably are yet to hear of called Overkill, but you should give them a shot as this may look promising. It made me think briefly of maybe Kane and Lynch, but instead an FPS. I recall playing a bit of the Kane and Lynch multiplayer and could see maybe a bank mission in PayDay maybe relating a little but being much more advanced. PayDay is coming to the PS3 and PC it looks like so far, if I get it I'd probably get it for my PC I'd imagine. Comparing L4D on the computer to on the 360 was a huge difference considering just how you play and feeling more in control or accurate with a mouse. So if I was going to play this, I'd think it would be the same case. But I'm sure we all know PS3's are easier than looking into PC's unless you're already a computer gamer. Anyway, PayDay is going to a have single player campaigns with AI for the other three characters of your team, but if you have any friends who may buy the game with you or just want to meet up with some people online it's probably going to make things more interesting. The campaigns will allow friends to drop in and replace an AI as well which is a nice feature. With the type of game this is, chances are most people will be chatting whether it be through a text chat on the computer and/or using mics on the computer or PS3 considering this is a very cooperative game. Based on looking into the game a bit it seems that there's only six missions but DLC is already being worked on to bring new equipment and missions after it releases. As there are only six missions, it seems that you can play each mission different every time based on the various dynamic decisions you can make. Your strategy and tactics with your team mates will decide how the mission plays out and how your PayDay is. It seems PayDay isn't going to just being about robbing banks but more so in the other missions will allow you to extract prisoners, make crazy escapes through crowded streets, infiltrate a panic room full of drugs and money, sneaking into a corporate skyscraper, and hijacking an armored vehicle. It appears that you'll be able to roles based on how you progress through the game, whether it be an assault, support, or sharpshooter. So whatever fits your taste, go for it. Maybe you want to shoot skillfully from nearby as an assault, maybe go guns blazing into the fight as a support, or maybe take names and pick off people from a distance away. No date yet has been set for the downloadable title, but make sure to keep an eye out.
