Dead Island - Gameplay Footage

Ran over to IGN not too long ago just for a quick skim through the posts and noticed an article about Dead Island DLC. The Bloodbath Arena DLC that features single and multiplayer challenges in four different arenas. Supposedly if you pre-order Dead Island in North America at a Gamestop you get a "token" for the upcoming DLC, which would be the Bloodbath Arena. Just something to keep in mind. Anyway, as to the video above, it was posted a few days back, but I just realized they had posted it and figured I'd take a look. Makes me think Far Cry with the surroundings and just the way it looks a bit. Your character says little comments often while killing zombies that tend to get repetitive and were annoying to me throughout the video personally. Nice thing to add, but it'll get repetitive quick and annoying I'd imagine. It looks like they definitely look into if you shoot a zombie in certain limbs of the body, they'd react differently which is nice. The opening of the trailer definitely tries to jump into showing you the artwork and nice scenery around which I didn't think was too bad. I noticed around 17:00 rain kicks in and I thought it looked kind of nice. The melee movements just feel a little strange, like laggy or just not as smooth as it could be. From watching the trailer it's definitely not looking like a Dead Rising where you take on hordes of zombies at a time, but instead take small groups of 1 - 5 at a time, generally individually. Which lets you know they focus more on the things you can do to the zombies or ways you can take them out and maybe make it more difficult or interesting fighting a zombie. But also it leaves out the feeling of killing mass amounts of zombies like Dead Rising or Left 4 Dead for example. I don't think I'll buy it when it first comes out, but I think I'll take a look when it drops in price personally.
