It's definitely not a hidden rumor that a Call of Duty sequel will be expected considering how successful the franchise has been. Although as of recently Activision has secretly acquired the domain name blackops2.com.
It was first registered back in May 2010 briefly after Black Ops was announced and then disappeared under Whois privacy. But reappeared for a moment on Go Daddy's Domains by proxy. Through MarkMonitor, Activision previously bought several domains all the way up to BlackOps6.com, although they were unable to get blackops2.com until recently. Currently the domain blackops2.com doesn't display anything and is hidden and likely will be for a while.
With several job listings appearing from Sledgehammer Games it definitely makes us aware a new Call of Duty is on the way. Although it doesn't precisely say it's going to be a sequel. But at the moment our best bet would be to say it's going to be a sequel to Black Ops from the recent domain purchase. With Black Ops selling over 14 million copies, it probably would me a smart move to create a sequel.
For now it's just rumors floating about until further comment by Activision is made, if they choose to respond.
