Notch Drops Minecraft Lead Position!

Three hours ago earlier Notch posted on his blog that he's stepped down from the Lead Developer position for Minecraft. If you've played Minecraft, you should know the name Notch. Also known as Markus Persson. This isn't the end for Minecraft though, Persson has passed on the grail to Jens Bergensten. Another name you may or may not recognize. Bergensten is more so known as @Jeb_ on twitter.

"As of yesterday, Jens Bergensten is the new lead developer on Minecraft. He will have the final say in all design decisions, so he will kinda sorta become my boss, I guess. I’ve promised him to not pull rank. ;)" - Notch

Notch believes that his experience working with Bergensten over the last year has been beyond a pleasure. He believes that they're both in "synch" and that Bergensten is more than qualified to be in this position. Notch states that he feels very confident in handing over the leadership of Minecraft to him. Before you jump to conclusions, Notch isn't gone from the Mojang team. Notch is just taking a vacation for now and will soon come back with a new project he states. Plus, I mean he did just get married not too long ago. Also, the team is still working on Scrolls and Cobalt which are being co-developed by Oxeye Game Studio. Minecraft itself to this day has sold at least 4.2 million copies!

"Personally, I will now rest for a while, then get back to work refreshed and eager. I’ll be helping out with Minecraft, of course, but also starting work on some new project." - Notch
